BLG Group and Shanghai Jiaotong University established the Future Food Joint Laboratory in October 2020. The goal of the joint laboratory is to build a future food innovation center based on hydrocolloid technology. The cooperation between the two parties focuses on the cultivation of R&D personnel and basic and applied scientific research of hydrocolloids.

On September 25, 2021, Prof. Fang and his Ph.D. team and the Shanghai Jiaotong University team from the Joint Laboratory visited the Shangfang factory. Deng Nianxiang, vice president of the group, and the engineer of the Chief Engineering Office introduced the raw materials and production processes of carrageenan and other products to the Jiaotong University team. Process engineers Sun Li, Li Jing and Wu Zhihua introduced the product production process, process research and development and product inspection equipment and facilities at each production workshop site and factory laboratory respectively.

Through this factory visit, Professor Fang's team deeply felt that the research and development products have a long journey from laboratory research and development, trial production to industrial mass production, and lamented the hardships and success of BLG Group's development. The Jiaotong University team and the process research and development team discussed the direction of project cooperation in the new year, and the two parties will arrange a new round of discussion and implementation of the project cooperation plan.
